Science, engineering and technology are changing the world we live in. It has affected the quality of our lives in many ways. Related science, engineering and technology are at the heart of the science-led process of change and are increasingly recognized as an essential driver of countries' social development and economic strategies. The sincere belief in the talents of young people and their role in building future societies prompted us to establish the Yousuf Bin Saeed Lootah Award for Young Scientists in Science, Engineering and Technology to urge them to participate directly in development and to encourage young scientists in these fields. This award, which will be considered the first Emirati award, aims to support young talent, early in their careers and encourage them to continue their work with enhanced research, education and cooperation in science, engineering and technology that will foster their active participation in scientific fields that directly contribute to economic development, in particular women and girls, in order to promote gender equality, scientific literacy, employment creation and stability.
Objectives of the Award

1. Encouraging young scientists, science, engineering and technology researchers.
2. Identifying the achievements of young people leading to social and economic transformation and development.
3. Increased interest of young people, especially girls and women, in science to promote gender equality, scientific literacy and choice of scientific profession.
4. Aims to promote research, education and international cooperation in science, engineering and technology.
About The Award
-
1. The award is awarded every two years to three winners per branch.
2. Candidates must be enrolled students at an accredited university within the UAE, or recent graduates at the time of applying for the award.
General Conditions for Applying for the Award
-
1. Applications for the award must be submitted through one of the Arab universities that are members of the Arab Universities Union.
2. Application for the award must be made within the specified time and all conditions and documents must be fulfilled.
3. Submit only one work to one branch of the award.
4. The work must be original and not plagiarized, adhering to the principles of academic integrity.
5. Nominated works must be written in Arabic or English, not published for more than two years, and the award may be given to translations from Arabic into other languages.
6. The award will not be granted to a work that has previously won a major Arab or foreign award at the same level or higher.
7. Compliance with the conditions specified in the "Application Form" for participation in each branch of the award is required.
8. Nominated works must demonstrate a high degree of originality and innovation.
9. The award committee reserves the right to withdraw the award if there is evidence of a breach of research ethics, and individuals from whom the award has been withdrawn are not eligible to reapply.
10. Applicants for the award must not be members of the award committee or any of its committees during the same year.
11. Submissions for the award can be individual or collaborative among a group of individuals.

1. Nomination for the award.
2. Universities, institutions, and research centers.
3. Nomination by three individuals with high scientific standing.
Conditions Required for the Candidate

1. Must be a student at one of the Arab universities that are members of the Arab Universities Union.
2. Must adhere to the nomination deadline announced on the award's website and in the media, and adhere to the deadline for submitting scientific works.

Award
The prize consists of a total financial bonus of 250,000 dirhams distributed to all winners. The winners will be awarded a medal and a certificate of appreciation.

The jury is made up of six prominent members of the award disciplines.

~ Functions of the Council

1. Establish the regulations, foundations and criteria governing the operation of the Award.
2. Announcing the award and approving the topics and conditions.
3. Developing the award for the better.
4. Supervising cultural relations with similar awards.
5. Undertake the task of introducing the Award by various means.
6. Development of studies and research for the development of the Award.
7. Selection and follow-up of award jury.
8. Study of books, studies and research published in the name of the Award.
9. Establish the estimated budget for the Award as well as its final account.
10. Announcement of the award winners based on the arbitrators' recommendations.
~ Meetings of the Council
The Council shall meet at the invitation of its President, its deliberations shall bae valid in the presence of a majority of the members, and decisions and recommendations shall be taken by a majority of the members present.
~ Duration of the Board
The term of office of the Council shall be two years from the date of its adoption. The Council shall continue to exercise its competence until it is reconstituted.
Timetable

1. The start of receipt of nominations is announced.
2. Jury prepares shortlist of finalists.
3. Jury selects shortlisted winners and makes recommendations to Board of Trustees.
4. Board of Trustees approves the winners.
5. Winners are announced and invited to the awards ceremony.
